So I’ve been playing with iPhone apps the last few days. Got bunches I love, but I figured I needed to start somwhere.
So how about some music apps?
These first three radio apps are petty cool and have somewhat similar functionality.
I heart Radio: tune online radio stations from across the country
Last.fm: take last.fm with you.
Pandora radio: more free streaming radio.
Public Radio tuner: Index of public radio sites. Click on a station, sorted by state, and then play a stream. Has geolocation feature to find local stations.
NPR Mobile: NPR program browser. Uses Topics, Program, series drill-downs to select and play content.
AOL Radio: Browse and play music from AOL radio.
Slacker radio: plays Slacker radio stations if you have an account.
iTalk: simple voice note recorder
Shazam: this is one you’ve probably heard about. Press one button int he app and it samples whatever music is playing, then tells you the name and artist info. Pretty neat
AirPhones: the only app in this post that costs money. Essentially turns the iphone into a wireless headphone receiver. You runner a server app on your Mac and then the app on iphone and you can stream any audio on your computer to the iphone. Not tested this very much, but in the short test it garbled audio and both my iphone and macbook are on the same network in the same room.
